Funding Circle is great for alternate income streams. Funding Circle has been in business since 2010 and is a lending marketplace that enables investors to lend money directly to SMEs. Funding Circle was started in 2010 by Samir Desai, James Meekings and Andrew Mullinger. Funding Circle was the 1st website to allow peer-to-peer lending for businesses in the UK and now operates in the Germany, US, UK and the Netherlands. Funding Circle has facilitated over £5 billion in loans to small businesses as at June 2018.

The normal Return on Investment is roughly 8% which is better than many Hedge Funds. The way they handle defaults is a lot better than many banks. When a lender defaults, Funding Circle will reduce the payments allowing the company to recover. Often the business is able to return nearly all of the money lent.
